Scottish Schools Racing Championship
SSRC
The Scottish Schools Racing Championships (SSRC), is designed to engage young people across the nation in: science, technology, engineering, and maths. (STEM)
The Process
Design
Pupils come up with a method to construct their uniquely built racecar, determining the optimal materials for the body, fastest gear ratio and more.
Build
The kit cars can be assembled and have a body built in around 24 hours of total pupil work although this can vary.
Race
Schools compete against each other at many events across the country, aiming to set the fastest lap around a set track, one at time. Everyone can drive and have fun.
“It has taught me many real practical skills and it really helped being able to see the theory we learn about in lessons actually used. It had a big impact on my choice to pursue a career in STEM”
